On January 20, 2026, the President of Zanzibar, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, accompanied by the First Lady and members of his delegation, visited the newly renovated Malindi Ferry Terminal in Zanzibar for the grand reveal of the newest passenger ferry boat from Bakhresa, The Dragon of the Sea.

ZF Devco, in collaboration with the Zanzibar Ports Corporation (ZPC), today—11 January 2026—successfully conducted the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Maruhubi/Mpiga Duri Passenger Port Project, held under the official patronage of the Second Vice President of Zanzibar, Hon. Hemed Suleiman Abdullah.

ZF Devco has commenced a two-day programme for captains and representatives of RoRo and (Landcraft tank)LCT vessel operators, including Shipco, ZPC, and ZMA, to assess mooring and unmooring requirements. Day 1, held today 24th Nov 2025 at Maruhubi, focused on the operational site visit.

As part of its commitment to inclusive and sustainable development, ZF Devco has proudly engaged local tailors and carpenter, Tumaini Alvares in the production of uniforms and benches for the new Malindi Ferry Terminal in Zanzibar.

ZF Devco, in partnership with the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI), has successfully completed a major mangrove conservation relocation project in Zanzibar, marking a significant milestone in the protection and restoration of the island’s coastal ecosystems.

Construction is moving full steam ahead, with dredging operations well underway as a crucial step in the ongoing land reclamation. This transformative phase is laying the foundation for the new RoRo (Roll-on/Roll-off) and Passenger Terminal in Maruhubi, marking a significant milestone in enhancing regional connectivity and maritime infrastructure.
