ZF Devco Hosts Zanzibar House of Representatives Committee at Maruhubi Ferry Terminal

ZF Devco was pleased to host members of the Zanzibar House of Representatives Committee on Infrastructure, Land and ICT at Maruhubi Ferry Terminal as part of their official visit to assess progress on strategic development projects in Zanzibar.

During the visit, the Committee toured key areas of the terminal, including the passenger facilities, cargo inspection and weighing areas, and the terminal’s major marine infrastructure.

A key highlight of the visit was the Maruhubi pontoon, one of the terminal’s major infrastructure investments, designed to accommodate more than four vessels at a time and support greater efficiency in maritime operations, transportation and trade.

The visit comes as Maruhubi continues to attract new vessel operations, including vessels transporting sand, aggregates and cement from various locations, including Bagamoyo Port. This growing activity reflects the terminal’s increasing role in supporting trade, logistics and the efficient movement of essential goods into Zanzibar.

The Committee commended the Government of Zanzibar and ZF Devco for the successful completion of Phase 1A and emphasised the importance of progressing with Phase 1B, which will enable additional ferry services currently operating from Malindi to transition to Maruhubi.

The Chairperson of the Committee Hon Mihayo Juma Suleiman highlighted the importance of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) in accelerating the delivery of strategic infrastructure projects and improving the efficiency and quality of services for the public.
